Master Yagi Meitetsu has been featured in both the local newspaper and on RBC television for teaching at the “1st Okinawa Traditional Karate and Kobudo Worldwide Seminar.” The event was a resounding success with masters from Shorin Ryu, Uechi-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Okinawa Kobudo represented. Sponsored by the Okinawa government and represented by the members of the Okinawa Dentou Karate-do Shinkokai, it is the first of many. The seminar is planned as an annual event that may even last a month long. The Prefecture of Okinawa has identified the importance of Okinawa karate and will be working with the “Shinkokai” to preserve, promote, and propagate Okinawa Karate and Kobudo.
Both the Shinkokai and the Okinawa prefecture are working together to build the new Karate Kaikan which is being on the old site of Tomigusuku Castle beyond its entrance. It is said that it will hold offices, dojo, and a Karate Museum. As Vice President of the Shinkokai, Master Yagi is an important part of this new phase of Okinawa Karate.
Master Yagi has recently retired as an English teacher and is now available for seminars in your locale. If interested, please contact Sean Wong at firstname.lastname@example.org.
