MEIBUKAN HOMBU DOJO

YAGI Meitetsu Sensei of the Meibukan Hombu Dojo would like to thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes concerning the tragic events over the past few hours. He reports that Okinawa was relatively safe compared it those in the Tokyo area. His concerns and prayers go out to all citizens of the areas that were affected.

Eight years ago today, the Karate world lost a great legend who stood steadfast for Okinawa Karate. Dai Sensei YAGI Meitoku, founder of Meibukan and a founding father of the All Okinawa Karate-do Association passed away. Recognized for his contribution to Okinawa’s heritage, Dai Sensei was honoured with the title of a “Living Cultural Asset” during his last years.

Let us not forget Karate’s Okinawan heritage and the dedication that has been exemplified by great men like Dai Sensei YAGI Meitoku.
